Netanyahu pledges 5200 new homes in east Jerusalem

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to build 5200 new Jewish homes in east Jerusalem, including Har Hama and Givat Hamatos, aiming to connect parts of the city and expand a “mid sized city” for Jews. He also announced 1000 new homes for Palestinians in Beit Safafa. Critics warn the move could sever Palestinian areas from the West Bank, risking a two state solution amid international opposition and regional condemnation.
