Peru Ecuador border conflict threatens weak economies
A two week old clash along a 48 mile Amazon frontier has cost Peru and Ecuador hundreds of millions. Economists estimate direct costs between 100 and 400 million per country with daily war costs 7 to 10 million. Prolonged fighting risks curbing recent growth and scaring off foreign investment.
