Four Pearl Harbor veterans die within weeks of each other
At least four Pearl Harbor survivors, three in their late 90s and one aged 100, died within weeks as the last living witnesses to the December 7, 1941 attack dwindle. Navy reservist Will Lehner of the USS Ward, 98, died January 5. Delton Walling, 98, died January 8. Marine Joe Walsh, 100, died December 21. Marion Harris, 97, died December 26. The men recalled torpedo planes, anti aircraft fire, and duty at Pearl Harbor, with Pacific Historic Parks noting Vega crew and Ward actions as pivotal in the early hours of the attack.
