Grady Max O Neal 93 of Oriental NC died December 7 2020 at Crystal Coast Hospice House Newport NC A private graveside service will be in Hickory NC A public memorial service will be held later in Oriental He was born July 14 1927 in Rose Bay NC to John Bryant and Violet Jenette O Neal A Korean War Army veteran he earned an associate degree in Building Technologies He and Gayle Christine Goodman married June 16 1962 and had two children Bryan and Sharon He founded O Neal Building and Real Estate in Hickory NC in 1961 instrumental in starting the Home Builders Association of Hickory Catawba Valley later became a Life Director of the National Home Builders Association He was active in the Hickory Rotary Club Retired in 1992 and moved to Oriental He enjoyed fishing boating water skiing snow skiing and travel He held a pilot license His survivors include wife Gayle children Bryan Tammy O Neal Sharon Stanley Sturgess grandkids Erin Rebekah Matthew Peyton Liam sister Gretchen Heber Windley and brother Glenn O Neal Alliance NC is in charge of arrangements Memorials to Oriental First Baptist Church or Hickory Christian Academy.

She worked 35 years at DuPont as a lab technician and enjoyed gardening traveling and time with grandchildren.
