GOP nominates Trump for second term in scaled down convention
In Charlotte the GOP formally nominated Donald Trump for another White House term as a pandemic restricted convention opened with 336 delegates casting votes. Trump urged victory and warned of a rigged election while defending mail in voting and assailing Gov. Roy Cooper. The event emphasized safety protocols amid protests and a smaller, white attended gathering, with plans to shift focus to Washington after the roll call.
