Stuff the Bus exceeds expectations in Craven County
Craven County Schools Superintendent Meghan Doyle says the Stuff the Bus drive has exceeded expectations with many schools already stocked for the new year. The annual fundraiser by Craven County Partners in Education places bins labeled by school in front of WalMarts in Havelock and New Bern, staffed by volunteers and sheriffs with radio station support. Supplies go first to underprivileged students and then to others if quantity allows, aided by community generosity spurred by last year’s flooding. The list blends traditional items like pens and notebooks with modern needs such as ear buds and flash drives. PIE president David Baxter agrees the drive’s collections were strong.
