Newport woman arrested after traffic stop and drug bust
Carteret County deputies stopped Misty Ann Parsons on Lake Road in Newport on four counts of trafficking heroin and meth, destroying evidence, and resisting an officer. About four ounces of meth and a quarter ounce of heroin were found. Parsons, 43, was jailed on a 1.5 million dollar bond. Police linked the stop to Operation One by One with Morehead City detectives. Deputy Buck praised the arrest as ending her drug trafficking activities.

Maritime Museum restores replica of Tubmans boat
The North Carolina Maritime Museum Beaufort is restoring a replica of the Perianger canal boat used by Harriet Tubman during the Civil War.
