Court allows asylum denial at border in New Mexico and Texas
A federal appeals court ruling lets the Trump administration begin denying asylum to migrants who pass through a third country before entering the United States at the New Mexico and Texas border. The decision limits prior injunctions to California and Arizona, with Rio Grande Valley and El Paso areas among the busiest crossings. Nearly 50,000 July border entries occurred in those regions as migrants from Central America face eligibility questions.

On August 15, 2019 Craven County Sheriff s Office charged Jason Alan Bright 38 of Delanie Way New Bern with multiple felonies for breaking and entering and related property crimes. He faces further counts in Pamlico County for a July 21 2019 breaking and entering at Shop Quick in Merritt affecting two properties. Investigations involve Pamlico and Beaufort counties and more charges are pending.
