Fishermen found safe after night aground off Hobucken
Two fishermen missing Tuesday were found wet but well in Pamlico County. Wesley Davis of New Bern owner of the 23 foot Sea Ox and passenger Arthur Hotchkins of Arapahoe were located aboard the stranded boat at about 7:30 a.m. by Dave Holloman of Whartonsville. Coast Guard teams from Hobucken Elizabeth City and Cherry Point aided a search that began Tuesday night and briefly paused in the early morning hours. Davis had steered into Swan Creek but a closed gate forced grounding in the marsh. The couple spent the night aboard the vessel after a call from Davis’s sister Gail Scott.
