Outer Banks braced as Felix nears capes and shores
Islanders double-tied moorings and boarded windows as Hurricane Felix moved toward the Outer Banks with 80 mph winds. Residents evacuated, boats thinned at Teach's Lair Marina, and officials warned mobile homes are unsafe. In Rodanthe and nearby towns, captains planned to ride out the storm amid rising waves and damage from past hurricanes.
