Cherry Point SOES wins Marine aviation trophy in annual contest
Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station SOES squadron known as the Roadrunners won the Commandant s Aviation Efficiency Trophy, edging all 79 Marine aircraft squadrons. The unit operates four transports and three rescue helicopters, logged over 30 000 passengers and 4 600 flight hours while performing 18 lifesaving missions with Pedro the helicopter last year. Commanded by Lt Col G Allen Hale, the unit also provided 24 hour search and rescue service.
