State child fatalities remain high in North Carolina
North Carolina still tops seventh in child fatality rates though efforts to curb deaths continue. The NC State Child Fatality Prevention Team reported 1993 saw 88 child murders up from 73 in 1992, with abuse deaths dropping to 24 from 25.
