Consumer spending surge signals solid March momentum
U S consumer spending rose 0.9 percent in March the largest jump since August 2009 as inflation stayed tame. Incomes rose 0.1 percent while prices gained 0.2 percent. The GDP grew 3.2 percent helped by March spending, though gains were partly inventory driven. The saving rate fell to 6.5 percent. Spotify reached 100 million paying subscribers in Q1 2019, up 32 percent, with total users at 217 million. Burger King tests Impossible Whopper nationwide after strong Q1, with Restaurant Brands posting a 9 percent drop in net income.
