Danny Batten, founder of Surf Wind & Fire and Life is Good store partner, drives downtown New Bern revitalization. A Navy veteran and UNC Chapel Hill alum, he runs a custom screen print shop, supports Swiss Bear and chamber boards, plans events, and champions parking and night-time streetscape upgrades. He also volunteers locally and plays banjo.
Danny Batten runs Surf Wind nd Fire on Middle Street and leads downtown efforts through the Downtown Council and Swiss Bear board. He organizes MumFest Rockin on the Rivers and Saturday Sessions at Bear Plaza, serves on the parking committee, and along with wife Sheila, invested in Five Points renovating a former service station for clothing and hat production sold nationwide. He is also a volunteer musician supporting nonprofits, highlighted by George Oliver 52 Faces in Sun Journal and NewBernSJ.com as a Craven County unsung hero honored by Jefferson Awards.
Elliott claimed victory in a Sunday speed event, finishing ahead of rivals including Georgi and Hen. The race saw a tight finish as Elliott led early and held off challengers to secure the win.
