Audit finds weak controls at NCGTP amid political bid
North Carolina State Auditor Beth Wood identified significant accounting and management oversight irregularities at the Kinston based NCGTP Authority for the year ending June 30 2018. The report notes inadequate internal controls and misstatements including twelve year end journal entries posted outside the system. One $454 407 entry balanced financial statements without supporting documentation. Former executive director Allen Thomas now seeks the 3rd Congressional District seat.
