Public records report on Jerome Bell arrest

Jerome Bell, 31, of 931 Main Street, charged Thursday with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana. Police say he was arrested at 9 30 a m on Biddle Street as three packages were seized from the scene. A 1986 Lincoln driven by Bell is listed. Bond set at $1000. Information from the public record notes arrests do not establish guilt.

Capsizing Tragedy Near Newport Leaves One Dead Two Missing

A 42 foot charter Rain Song capsized after a large wave washed over its bow near Yaquina Bay. Fifteen people were aboard when the accident happened Thursday afternoon. One man died and two others were missing early today as survivors recalled a broadside wave flipping the boat. Irwin Ames, 63, of Salem described the moment.

Trade deficit edges up in February as imports rise

The Commerce Department reports the U.S. merchandise trade deficit widened 0.5 percent to 7.20 billion dollars in February, with exports at 37.2 billion and imports at 44.4 billion. The February gap was led by a 4.13 billion shortfall with Japan as talks with Japan’s Kiichi Miyazawa loom at the White House.

Steady Industrial Production Stalls in March

Washington AP report shows March output at factories mines and utilities unchanged from February ending a five month rise. Weather disruptions from a mid month East Coast storm reduced mining 1.2 percent while utilities rose 0.8 and manufacturing inched up 0.1 percent according to the Federal Reserve.
