Five Great White Sharks Linger Off North Carolina Coast

Five large great white sharks, ranging from eight feet to twelve feet seven inches, were spotted off North Carolina's southern coast. Researchers from OCEARCH report the sharks occupy Gulf Stream edges, a zone with nutrient upwellings that fuel rich feeding grounds, and tracking shows they remain offshore through midweek. The Gulf Stream's warm current, carrying massive water volumes north of Cape Hatteras, supports diverse marine life and is a focal point for research on shark mating, birthing, and canyon foraging patterns.
