Venice ophthalmologist Dr. Douglas Williamson, director of the Venice Eye Clinic, is among 50 eye specialists to receive the American Academy of Ophthalmology 1982 Honor Award. He pioneered outpatient ophthalmic surgery and has served as senior clinical instructor since 1974.
Enterprise 82 an exposition of manufacturing and professional trades and services in Sarasota County will be held at Robarts Arena Sarasota on Friday Oct 29 from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday Oct 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Sarasota County Committee of 100 and targets high school seniors and community members seeking business insight.

He is a Jamestown native and Jamestown Business College graduate and has lived in Port Charlotte since 1979.
Valdon Industries moves its Venice operation to 241 S Grove St from 1000 B S Venice Bypass. The firm makes Murphy Bed system wall units and custom modular cabinetry, with dealer rights from Tallahassee to Naples and distribution through Land of Sleep stores in Port Charlotte, Naples, Sarasota and Bradenton. Don and Valerie Schultz established the company in August 1981.
Louise Norris RN founded a private nursing practice at 209 S Nassau St Venice in September. The nurse consultant focuses on stress management and pain control using progressive relaxation visualization and hypnosis in selected cases.
The registered nurse led a 140 bed geriatric center in Hollidaysburg and served as assistant supervisor for Blair County Public Health in Altoona. She taught special education in Roaring Spring from 1972 to 1976 and has 27 years in medical surgical obstetrics gynecology and pediatrics. She earned a bachelor degree from Elizabethtown College and a nursing diploma from St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing.
