Ed Taylor 25, Venice businessman and funeral director, filed to run for the two year council seat vacated by Eugene Caffrey who will seek the mayoralty. Taylor, a Nokomis native, Venice High and Gupton Jones alumnus, is a partner at Ewing Funeral Home and active with Sertoma Club Big Brothers Big Sisters and South County YMCA board. He notes encouragement from current council members and residents.
Dr. Douglas Williamson founder of the Venice Eye Clinic filed this week to fill the remaining two years of Eugene Caffrey's term on the Venice City Council. He cited listening to patients and serving community needs and said travel abroad inspired his move into local government.
