Learning about asphalt plants excites Exceptional Industries students
Mentally and physically handicapped adults from South Sarasota and West Charlotte counties toured asphalt operations last Thursday. Tim Chestnut of Wendell Kent Inc guided a demonstration of asphalt recycling at Oneco and Gillette plants. A new process reuses existing asphalt with 30 to 40 percent new material in a drum mixer plant. A site adjacent to the South County landfill is under consideration by the company as Sarasota County Commissioners review the petition.
