Decision on Manatee Junior College south campus funding
State budget makers may allocate about 6200000 for a southern branch of Manatee Junior College. Senator Warren Henderson backs 10 percent toward site acquisition and first phase drawings for a 100 acre site eight miles south of Brickyard Plaza. Venice leaders and MJC officials seek a 1985 enrollment build and future construction funds.

Water shortage warning follows Oaks water franchise grant
County commissioners heard that Special Utility District 1 lacks capacity to serve 540 additional Oaks units. Jeff Fischer of Bent Tree argued the district is at maximum service level of 40 000 and cannot supply water beyond existing lines without court clarification. The dispute traces to last year’s out of court Oaks development settlement.
