Venice campus blends old Florida with modern learning
Manatee Junior College plans a Venice branch that fuses cracker-style brick and cypress design with ultra modern labs and computer facilities. Youth baseball lights dispute may see funding plan
Venice youth leagues face high light bills totaling about 1200 dollars monthly after Sarasota County stopped funding power costs. Leaders propose a fundraising drive to buy more efficient sodium vapor lights with the county paying 65 percent of the power bill and the city 35 percent. City and county officials consider the plan as a path to preserving the 650-player program while weighing broader county impact.
