County gains part of Jetty site and park aim outlined
Sarasota County Commission received a quit claim deed gifting part of the South Jetty land from Venice owners George and Mary Gibbs. About one acre, bought for 24000 in back taxes by Jetty Villas, sits adjacent to the condo. The county land is a long used public fishing spot slated for a park. The commission also approved Venice's comprehensive plan with corrections and a clarification on sanitary sewer and economic feasibility elements. A plastic pipe ordinance study was referred to committee after a public hearing. The board faces a separate suit by Thomas Provenzano claiming unlawful denial of a concealed weapon permit.
