Brush fire in Englewood burns 1200 acres across Rotonda area
A Sunday brush blaze in swampland at Coral Creek grew to 1200 acres before firefighters from Englewood El Jobean and the state forestry service halted it Monday night near Rotonda Cape Haze Dr and Annapolis Dr. No injuries or property losses were reported though residents evacuated briefly. The fire, blamed partly on boat access and arson rumors, was finally contained as humidity rose and ground crews reached dry land.
