Two off duty officers stopped Thomas Spillner 21 after a local lounge robbery in which he demanded cash and forced a victim to eat a pill before attempting to dance. Spillner, found with a cocked .38 derringer, was charged with armed robbery carrying a concealed weapon and driving without a valid license.
Dudley Dames 38 of 107 Tulane Street was spotted swimming about 500 yards west of North Jetty Park intoxicated. He refused to board a boat, shouted he would swim to Texas, then repeatedly grabbed at deputies and attempted to jump overboard before being restrained and charged with resisting arrest with violence and battery of a law enforcement officer.
