Knights Island shopping center approved by county board
Charlotte County commissioners approved Palm Island Estates plan to build a three acre Knight Island shopping center on a barrier island, a move critics warn could harm environmentally sensitive areas. The vote was 8-1 on the zoning change to a business retail zone. The board also backed two marina based condominium projects expected to add about 1,500 residents to Placida.
