Sarasota County residents fear higher taxes while Charlotte County homeowners may see a slight tax cut if millage stays below last year. Some commercial landowners face sharp increases regardless of rate. Taxes are property value times millage rate, with one mill equal to $1 per $1,000 of taxable property.
The Sarasota County Health Department at 2200 Ringling Boulevard announces new schedules for Venereal Disease and Immunization services. Venereal Disease Clinic runs Mondays and Thursdays 8 to 11 30 a.m., no charge. Overseas travel immunizations Wednesdays 8 to 11 30 a.m. and 1 to 4 30 p.m., with fees posted at the clinic. Preschool immunizations urged. other immunizations available via private doctors or at the clinic.
Local representatives of the Bureau of the Census will conduct a nationwide employment survey in the work week of July 17 to 22. The study covers about 70 000 households and informs on national labor market trends with results kept confidential by law. Interviewers including Mrs. Mary Lasson and Mrs. Barbara Richardson will visit area households.
