Miss Pioneer Days beauty pageant plans announced
Plans underway for the Jaycee sponsored Miss Pioneer Days pageant in Englewood with Lemon Bay Kiwanis Club backing. Fifteen entrants aged 16 to 20, from Englewood Venice and North Port, will compete in swimwear evening gown and a self designed outfit themed Florida's Last Frontier.

Cy Bispham a Bayside Dairy owner has been elected president of the Sarasota County 4-H Foundation for the coming year. Other officers include Charles Fulton as vice president Susan Crowley as secretary and Don Roberts as treasurer. The county hosts 20 organized 4-H clubs with about 500 members.
