Venice Junior High Community School will offer a four session metric conversion course in cooperation with adult education. Doug Roberts will teach, fees total 4 dollars, sessions run February 3 through February 24 with films and consumer information. Register by phone with Pat Scavo at 488 7727.
Norman Bensen was elected president of the Venice Shrine Club and installed at ceremonies Sunday at Egypt Temple in Tampa. About 1,200 attendees heard of a Shrine program unveiled by the officers and directors.
The Venice Nokomis Woman's Club will hold a rummage sale at the Harbor Drive clubhouse on Saturday February 7 from 8 am to 3 pm. The event features a favorite gourmet foods table and multiple sections for trash and treasures with named co chairs and section leads. Burn prevention education will be added to programs for crippled children and barn centers.

Venice AARP Chapter 372 held its installation at the Venice Community Center on January 16 with Everet Burgett administering the oath to president Clifford H. Bernard. Officers include Frances Swanson, Nelson Rauch, Wilfred Westland, Paul Spengler, E R Mason, plus tax aides Orville Ruid and David Dargen. Tax assistance begins January 26 with a schedule to be published.
The Venice Area Audubon Society plans a Friday birding trip to Sanibel Island on Feb. 6. Participants meet at 8 a.m. at K-Mart Jacaranda Shopping Center or 10 a.m. at the Sanibel Toll Bridge. Malcolm Simons will lead the day. A Corkscrew Swamp trip is set for February 16.
