Plane crash chase on marshy land near Fort Pierce area
A Cessna valued at $500,000 crashed on land owned by General Development and Mabry Carlton's ranch near Sarasota County. The pilot fled on foot through marshes, eluding pursuers overnight. Customs suspected contraband before the pilot radioed no further, while a detective later sighted the crash near North Port. Carlton assisted by offering dog tracking but the search remained fruitless.
