A Local FP&L executive assumes leadership of the chamber vowing to present a fair consensus of business opinion after research. Otis Elton O E Phillips was appointed Venice area Florida Power and Light Co in January 1982. He oversees planning development and supervision of FP&L activities in Boca Grande Warm Mineral Springs Englewood Venice and the area north to Blackburn Point Road. Phillips joined FP&L 26 years earlier in Miami to develop training programs for personnel. He was district manager at Punta Gorda before transferring to Venice in 1979. A Palatka native he holds a BS in education from the University of Alabama and is pursuing an MBA at Florida Atlantic University. He has done post graduate MBA work at the University of Miami and FAU and served as president of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce in 1978 and joined the Venice Area Chamber board in 1980.
