Flavor of water in North Port set for change
The City of North Port will switch water treatment disinfectant from chlorine to chloramine in 1983 to meet new state and federal standards. Chloramine offers longer lasting protection and a different flavor while avoiding chloroform byproducts, though tropical fish hobbyists and kidney dialysis patients must adjust. Local officials expect readiness by February 1983 with full compliance by November 1983.
