County beach curfew debate prompts plan for midnight limits

Sarasota County commissioners told Walt Rothenbach to draft a new ordinance extending parking lot curfews to midnight at select beaches and parks after Siesta Key resident and candidate Weingarten argued the current 10 p.m. limits unfairly restrict access. The board will review a proposal within two weeks amid concerns of resident protests if curfews are pushed to midnight.

Mother of MADD seeks county support to fight drunk driving

Eleanor Howe founder of Sarasota County MADD urges county Board of Commissioners to back her campaign while considering joining forces with the Drug Task Force.
