4 Hers plant sea oats to defend dunes at Nokomis
Four dozen 4 H club members partner with county to plant 600 sea oat seedlings along the Gulf coast at Nokomis North Jetty Park. The project aims to create a ten foot dune strip, slow wind and water erosion, and educate the public on sea oats value. The effort began with a $100 Readers Digest Citizens in Action grant and seeds were sourced from Pine Island Englewood.
