Carlton warns of time bomb platted lots in Sarasota County
County Commissioner Mabry Carlton warns that thousands of platted lots east and north of I 75 could wreck the land use plan by enabling high density. He cites 3 224 lots in about a dozen subdivisions, many near undeveloped future growth areas. He contemplates transferring development rights to protect rural areas without taxpayer cost.
