Venice Receives Five New Truxmore Garbage Trucks
Venice Public Works displayed five new Truxmore side loader garbage trucks at City Hall replacing old rear-loaders. The nine Cushman scooters will be largely retired, with one foreman scooter kept and a rear loader retained for dumpsters at multiple family dwellings. A four day work week and curbside trash placement accompany the upgrade.

Area not as hard hit by growing unemployment
Unemployment figures near nine percent affect Sarasota County and Venice modestly. Tom Desio of the Florida State Employment Service cites slow job listings but expects about 100 hires in January as tourism picks up. Business contacts indicate hiring after the new year, with potential a strong January if many firms hire. County unemployment sits at a four year high.
