Venice church names first woman moderator in history
Mrs. Erick B. Berglund was chosen as moderator of the Venice United Church of Christ on Shamrock Boulevard in Venice Gardens. She led the orientation class and presided over the December 8 church council in Naar Hall, becoming the first woman to hold the post.

Venice Opera Guild to tour Asolo rehearsal
The Venice Opera Guild will take 32 Venice Junior and Venice Senior High School students to a technical rehearsal of the Asolo production She Loves Me on December 17. Education Director Suzanne White with teachers Margaret Strong John Cicci and Phyllis Stolz arranged the trip for a backstage look at musical theater during the rehearsal at the Asolo Theater in Sarasota. The next guild meeting is at 1 30 p m December 22 at Grace United Methodist Church with Cecilian Music Society singers performing.
