Fire quickly contained near industrial area blaze in Indiana
Firefighters from Nokomis Venice and volunteers battled a wind driven brush fire that threatened homes and a light industrial zone along Substation Road near US 41. Crews used brush trucks and fog nozzles to contain the tinder dry undergrowth as winds fanned flames and sparks flew into the night. A nearby barn and an abandoned car were noted and investigators suggested the blaze may have started from a cigarette or leaking gasoline.
