County jail plan faces South Venice stockade doubt
An architect recommends dropping Sheriff Hardcastle’s South County stockade plan and expanding downtown Sarasota jail instead to meet current and future space needs. He envisions renovating the Sarasota jail to handle both security levels, moving offices to the Osprey center, and possibly adding floors to house 328 more inmates by 1995 at an estimated $16 million.
