Drug arrest in Venice ends with cannabis discovery
Twenty year old Scott Howard of 5820 South Tamiami Trail Sarasota was arrested for possession of marijuana at the Shop and Go market on U S 41 and Seminole in Venice early Saturday morning. Deputies say he turned over less than 5 mg of cannabis during questioning in a suspicious incident and a field test confirmed the illegal substance. Howard was transported to the South County.

Venice Police report multiple DWI arrests after weekend incidents
David St. Denny, 21, of Venice was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a one car crash near Aldea Mar Condominium. He was treated for a nose laceration at Venice Hospital. Others arrested include Robert Carvel for DWI, Alan Campbell Frank Judge and Allen Comallos for disorderly intoxication, Steven Carr and Fred Rose for driving with suspended license and no inspection sticker, and Richard MacDonald for suspended license.

A 16 year old Venice girl was charged with battery to a policeman after being warned for bicycle riding without a light. She punched and kicked Deputy Don Ghelarducci knocking him to the ground at Sandalwood Mobile Home Park. Deputies followed her from the park into nearby woods.

Auto burglaries hit Venice area this week
Deputies investigated several auto burglaries in Venice. Jeffrey Wade reported his locked pickup on Gulf Coast Boulevard robbed of 24 eight track tapes and his license plate amid spray-painted damage. A Manchester couple reported a purse theft from their locked car at Manaston Beach with cash cards rings and a watch missing. Donald Yager reported a 35mm camera and flash stolen from his car after an apparent entry with a coat hanger.
