Senior Friendship Centers mark anniversary with candlelight dining
Ventresca notes the centers embody People Helping People as 80 diners enjoyed a nutritious roast turkey dinner and anniversary cake. Volunteer Mark Audier led a dine along sing along with music from yesteryear. The nonprofit runs 22 locations with nearly 1,000 volunteers offering care, recreation, education, health services and social programs including transportation. Venice area activities feature candlelight dining while Nokomis and Englewood remain limited to that service.

Red Cross Expands Hurricane Advisory Bulletins
The Sarasota County Chapter of the American Red Cross is distributing 40,000 additional hurricane advisory flyers after strong response to the June batch. The leaflets are available at banks, savings and loans, post offices, supermarkets, and at the Red Cross Chapter House, 307 South Orange Avenue.
