Recalling Times and Garroway’s Indian Pole Dancers
A behind the scenes reminiscence describes filming challenges in Central America that switched to a desert town. Indians, a live chicken, a pole ceremony, and a jungle scene required props and labor from locals and equipment from an army base. A union dispute, legal maneuver, and Garroway’s guidance led to a broadcast finale and the creation of a non profit corporation to satisfy equity rules. Garroway is praised as a genius and the world mourns his loss.
