North Port to vote on emergency services district plan
Sarasota County Commission sets a referendum to create a special taxing district for North Port and surrounding unincorporated areas to fund fire and ambulance services. The proposal, backed by Commissioner Mabry Carlton and North Port Mayor Gentle, would use property taxes and user fees, with boundaries east of the Myakka River and south of I 75.
