Season’s First Blizzard Hits Upper Midwest
The season’s first blizzard struck the Upper Midwest bringing heavy snow and near zero temperatures along the Canadian border. Funeral plans for S Lindquist at Johnson Mortuary
Swen Lindquist 50 died at 4 30 am today at Ume General Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm at Johnson Mortuary with burial at Devert Law Memorial Park. He was a shift foreman at Pacific Fruit Express and resided at 950 4th Avenue Yuma. Surviving are his widow, son, daughter, father, brother and three sisters.

Elks Arizona City Days Celebration Opens Tonight
The Yuma Elks begin three day Arizona City Days with a large tent event featuring five new games next to the Biks club on Second street. Proceeds support the Elks Christmas party for Yuma children, the Elks Sanitarium in Tucson, and local charity efforts including stockings and food baskets for needy families. Armistice Day Parade and Program Planned in Yuma
Yuma will observe Armistice Day Saturday with a patriotic program in front of the post office and a Veterans parade. Parade assembly at 10 30 a m on North Main street and start at 11 a m proceed to the post office where it disbands. Mayor W J Anderson is parade marshal, with Roy Young and George Lindsey as commanders. Local bands, guards, veterans groups, Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls join, with Disabled American Veterans and Gold Star Mothers to be honored. Wisely to Attend CAB Hearing On Airline Routes
Wisely plans to attend a Civil Aeronautics Board hearing in Washington , D.C. next month on extending satisfactory airline service to Yunta. City council authorized Wisely to represent the city with the county board at the December 4 hearing. State Senator Harold C. Giss backed Wisely’s attendance. The council also canvassed municipal primary votes from October 1, declaring official results. Mayor Anderson announced December for the municipal general section and noted four city council seats up for election. A claim for $3,000 by Adda M. Raymond for a sidewalk injury on Main Street between 2nd and 3rd streets on October 1, 1949, was rejected.

In Phoenix on November 8, Howard Pyle led State Auditor Ann Frohmiller as precincts reported, widening to about 3,400 votes. With 98 percent of returns, Pyle held 97,960 to Frohmiller 94,495 overall, Maricopa County showing 45,643 to 30,959.
