Lenten Season Begins With Services Across Churches
The Lenten season started yesterday with church services as Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter. The late dates for Lent and Easter this year reduce social activities until after the holiday. Rev Father Molloy, pastor of a prominent local church, has led five years of growth, with cement walks, a bell, added gallery, and new interior finish by Arthur C. Philips of Oelwein. The interior features six ceiling panels each with a Oleograph, Murillo's Immaculate Conception above the high altar, and various religious images on panels and gallery companion pieces.
