The second day at Sumner drew the largest crowd in association history with about 1000 spectators. Races featured times near 2:20 on a half mile track, with Maud 5 and others delivering strong performances. Excursion Train To Dubuque From Hampton And Elma
On Sunday June 23 a Chicago Great Western special train will depart Hampton at 6:00 a.m. and Elma at 7:45 a.m., joining at Sumner around 8:30 a.m. for a continuous run to Dubuque. Low excursion rates offer a day of pleasure, with tickets sold July 3 and 4 for round trips within 200 miles, under one and one-third fare.
