New Iowa law requires ECCE lime certification for farmers
The Iowa Legislature passed a law mandating all agricultural lime producers show certified ECCE pounds on scale tickets or receipts. Bremer County ext director Dale Shires says ECCE, not tonnage, governs lime value. The ECCE formula began in 1965 from Iowa State University agronomy research and is now widely used by farmers and lime producers. Farmers may see price variations per pound ECCE across sources, even as the ECCE metric guides purchase and application. A second item notes a Hedrick five generation wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Lester Smith and relatives across five generations.
