Final 1970 crop figures and price outlook
The U.S. Department of Agriculture pegs 1970 corn production at 4,110 million bushels, near the November estimate and 10 percent below 1969, with a 625 million bushel carryover forecast next fall. Factors shaping 1971 prices include acreage plans, blight risk, feed grain programs, export competition, and international sowings in Argentina and South Africa, plus modest domestic use adjustments. Airman Wayne A. Kuhlmann completes basic training at Lackland and moves to Chanute AFB for aircraft maintenance training, while Navy Seaman Arth J. Rieck reports for duty aboard USS Forrestal in Norfolk.
