Theatre manager Gerald Peterson books a family lineup for January 11 12 and 13 offering Walt Disney’s The Vanishing Prairie and The Living Desert as a double feature each night at 7:30. Next Wednesday January 17 a one day showing of Brother of the Wind screens at 7 and 9 priced 150 for adults 75 for children.

Oliver White plant tour planned for January 15
A tour of the Oliver-White plant at Charles City is scheduled for Monday January 15 for members of the Adult Farm Class and FFA. The bus leaves the vocational agriculture building at 8 30 am and returns about 3 30 pm. The regular class meeting follows at 8 pm with a discussion on liquid fertilizers and new fertilizer uses. George Freeman of Sumner Thermogas Co will be guest consultant. A special meeting on Corn Diseases is set for January 22 and January 29 covers the 1973 ASCS Farm Programs.

Sumner Board buys buses and names head driver
Sumner Community School Board met Monday night and approved two new bus bodies and chassis bids from Safety-Liner Co of Des Moines and Walker Motor Co. for the chassis. Myron Koester was appointed head bus driver, replacing the late George Heller who has served since January 2.

Oelwein Centennial Weekend Set for June 21 24 1973
The Oelwein Centennial celebration is scheduled Thursday through Sunday June 21 to 24 1973 with events for all ages. Highlights include top entertainers spanning 100 years of history a 10 ton steam locomotive ride a record parade of about 300 horses and floats by individuals clubs and businesses. The event features an old fiddler contest square dancing and a top name band with a newer big name group. A 10 ton steam engine model owned by Dr. Keith Valesh will run on special narrower tracks being built with North Western Transportation Co. in Oelwein and a flat car will be constructed for rider access. Floats must reflect the past century and the parade may last three hours. Shop for bargains in Sumner.
