Waukon saloonmen drop 5 cent whiskies. drinks cost ten cents or no drink. Jas C Waugh gains a $6 monthly pension from Col Henderson dating to June 1891. Various notices, ads, and school reports from West Union and surrounding papers fill the page with local commerce and civic news.

The Fayette County board appropriates 100 for possible telephone expenses and sets pay for county officers. Argo and west Union Paper and Record and Register of Oelwein named official papers. Deputies named for treasurer and sheriff. Medical attendance allocated to Drs Coony and Hanes for Banks, Fremont, and Harlan townships. Deputy surveyor appointed. County seat agitation grows as investors discuss moving to Oelwein. Public notices include pensions and a spoof prayer, plus ads for DeWitt’s Witch Hazel Salve. The grand jury criticizes the poor house conditions and calls for immediate reform.
